Some important info

The JMHSK sponsorship program identifies needy individuals living with bleeding disorders and/or poor households with individuals living with bleeding disorders in Kenya. Then we work in partnership with Save One Life to provide financial support to help supplement their daily upkeep and meet essential needs like school fees for the education of the affected individual.

Saving one life at a time

Below is a list of beneficiaries for our sponsorship program in 2020. In partnership with Save One Life, we have made a huge difference in the lives of affected by bleeding disorders. This sponsorship help families gain access to food, medicine, clothing, transportation, treatment and education.

Steve Kang’ethu

Receives factor concentrate for his condition  on demand and emergency treatments.  Funds used to pay for his school fees and supplement the family’s food budget.

Leah Kuria

She receives factor concentrate for on demand and emergency treatments. The funds were used to pay for her school fees and buy her school uniform.

Israel Kuria

He receives factor concentrate whenever he has a bleed. The family used the funds to pay for his school fees and to buy him school items.

Alvin Mdigo Muta

Passionate about Languages and Art Work and loves playing with his friends. Wants to be a doctor. He receives factor  8 concentrate for his on demand and emergency treatments. The funds were used to pay for him school fees and buy him new school uniform.

Emmanuel Katanga

Loves Science, English. Enjoys bike riding. Wants to become a pilot. He receives factor concentrate whenever he gets a bleed. The funds were used to pay for his school fees.

Juma Kasri

He enjoys drawing and is very good at it! He wants to become a teacher. He receives factor concentrate whenever he has a bleed. The family used the funds to pay for his school fees and to buy him school items.

Derrick Chege Muthoni

Derrick hails from Muranga some, 85 km from Nairobi. He enjoys art work. Whenever he gets a bleed, the society sends factor to Murang’a Hospital where he is infused. Derrick’s health has tremendously improved and you cannot easily tell if he had a hematoma. He is now able to attend school like any other boy. Derricks’ mum used the funds to pay for his school fees, buy school uniform, a bag and school books.

Zakayo Chege Wanjiku

Zakayo Chege Wanjiku hails from Muranga. He repairs shoes for people along the roadside. He receives factor concentrate for his bleed and he also receives funds/support in acquiring medication for his mental condition. He needs physiotherapy, but the family cannot afford physiotherapy sessions. He needs a lot of support. The funds received were also used to buy for him school books and school uniform.

Stephen Ntiani Nyakairo

Stephen Ntiani Nyakairo loves art. He takes drawing and painting classes and also loves cooking and baking. The cost of transport to and from physiotherapy sessions is expensive and the family is not able to afford. He lives with his uncle and aunt. They use the funds to supplement his school fees and transport to and from the hospital.

Peter Njoroge

Peter Njoroge is living with Hemophilia A. He keeps pigs and does small scale farming for home consumption. He also cooks food and snacks for sell to construction workers, working in the quarry near his home. He receives factor concentrate for treating bleeds and medical supplies for support. He uses the funding to pay for his children’s school fees and for food.

Brian Kwambai

Brian Kwambai lives with Hemophilia A. He receives factor concentrate for treating his bleeds. His dad used the funding support to provide good nutrition for his two hemophilic boys. He used some of the funds to facilitate their movement to and from hospital and school.  He also bought new clothing for the boys. A big chunk of the funds went into paying for the boys’ school fees.

Samuel Mbugua Mararo

Samuel Mbugua attends high school. Save One Life was very gracious to him and his family and offered him a high school scholarship after the passing of his mom to make sure he stays in school and that he does not miss all the love and care his mom would provide. The funds were used to pay for his school fees and buy him school books and uniform.

Kennedy Njoroge wambui

Kennedy Njoroge does freelance jobs including drawing, painting and art designing. He aspires to own an art workshop where he can sell his drawings, paintings. His mom (Martha Njuku) received a micro enterprise grant recently to help her buy a dairy cow for milk production and selling to the local dairy. He used the sponsorship funds to buy materials for his art projects and work.

Alex Kimanjara

Alex loves drawing and assembling mechanical and electronic stuff and aspires to become a pilot. He has hemophilia A and receives factor concentrate for his on demand treatment and emergencies. The June 2019, funds were used to buy him a bicycle to aid him in his work, while the December 2019 funds were used to pay for his school fees and buy him school books.

Allan Kwambai

Alan Kwambai enjoys reading and loves playing chess competitively. Whenever he accompanies his brother to the chess competitions, he gets a chance to practice. He performs well in school and has received a book as a gift for good performance. He receives factor concentrate for on demand bleed treatments and for emergencies. Funds received were used to cover for his medical bill when he was admitted in hospital for an eye bleed and also to pay for his school fees.

Kennedy Kituku Kilatya

Kennedy Kituku would like to become an engineer. He loves helping around in his church. He receives factor concentrate for his on demand treatment and emergencies and is infused at home. His life has tremendously improved (physically and emotionally), owing to the support he receives from his sponsor. The funds were used to pay for his school fees.

Stephen Muiruri

Stephen Muiruri would like to be a pilot when he grows up. He receives factor concentrate for his on demand bleeds and emergency cases. He joined high school in 2019 and he is really happy that he can attend boarding school like other kids because of the supports his receives from Save One Life. The funds were used to buy the school enrollment items that he needed when he was joining high school and to pay his school fees.

Sandra Mugure Mbugua

Sandra receives Vwd factor whenever she has lengthy menses. She also gets mentorship from a senior VwD patient who is an active member of the society. She is really grateful for the support from her sponsor who has always come through for her especially after losing her mum. The funds were used to supplement their food budget and paying for her school fees.
